I have included some preexisting wedding invitation designs for purchase and customization, which allows the buyer to take control of the printing. The bulk of the cost of wedding invitations is in the printing. With so many options, the buyer can do their own printer shopping and price comparisons. I will set up the files in any way their printer of choice requests.

Also, check out some of the things I’ve been crafting, knitting and sewing! All custom and hand made with lots of love and care. Go Shopping!

My Aunt Kathleen Swaydan (who my middle name pays homage to) is a very talented artist. Among other mediums she is brilliant with watercolor and graphite. I recently designed a simple postcard for her gallery opening in October. It is called Still Life Compositions: Not the usual Set-Up.

On August 21st at 1:17pm, after a most eventful labor, Owen Anchor Mey was brought into this wonderful world! My sister, brother-in-law and I worked together to create a birth announcement in the week prior to Owen’s arrival, so it could be ready for blast off as soon as we had his stats and a photo. A week later I swapped out the original photos for a more serene image of the little guy, as well as altered the dimensions to a standard 4×6, so Owen’s parents could print them off easily to give to the neighbors and of course save one for his scrapbook.

Here are the two versions side by side.

Welcome to my new website. Amy K. Paxman, LLC will now be known as Creative Ames! As owner, operator and sole member of Creative Ames, I supply clients with graphic design solutions, invitation design, web design and development, but it goes way beyond just design.

I take clients projects and ideas from concept to completion, customizing each process for their specific need. For me, it is important to strive for a whole solution rather than just the task at hand, for the sake of efficiency and value. I enjoy the collaborative process of design most of all. I have found that lack of communication often sends clients away from designers, even when the designer is exceptionally talented. Communication with my clients is at the very top of my priority list because without communication there is no creative process. Being able to bring someones vision to life, when otherwise they would have no means to do it themselves, really drives what I do and how I do it.

This is not just a place to showcase my past and current work. In addition to my portfolio you may find craft projects, inspirational information, photos of my latest adventures, links to a friend’s blog or simply some randomness just for fun.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss a project, share some information or just shoot the shit.

And enjoy!

After much hope and anticipation (and yes, some begging) I am finally going to be an Aunt! I could not be more excited for my sister and brother-in-law and their latest and greatest addition to their family, not to mention Grandmas and Great Grandmas-to-be. They are having a boy. Sweet Baby Mey, as the are calling him in their blog, is due August 16, 2010. You know what that means… design time!

Being of a younger generation, not many of my friends have made the move towards parenthood and honestly I think I have been to two baby showers in my life. But that has not protected my eyes from all of the unsightly and cheese-filled baby shower invitations I have seen.

I was put to task to design an invitation that was fun and cute and pretty much gender neutral since Alana and Ashton are not into the gender norms of pink=girl and boy=blue. They wanted something that was just them. Simple, natural and beautiful.

I designed this to be able to fit into a standard #10 envelope to save on the envelopes themselves and postage. We’re hoping to find a recycled paper stock that gives it a natural and organic look.

Can’t wait for the shower and to celebrate the new member of our family!
